I stayed associated with the theatre group for 3-4 years. I did a variety plays in regional language. It was an enriching experience as an actor. I didn’t earn money there and that’s completely fine. Those days were the golden days of my life. Then all things started happening slowly.Ī post shared by Sandeep Kumaar theatre experienceĭoing theatre was the best days of my life. For one year, I kept myself away from acting dreams and then I joined theatre. It was in 2014 when Tiger Shroff made his acting debut and seeing him on screen I again started thinking that I have to become an actor. ‘ Tiger Shroff’s acting debut changed my mind’ At 20-21 years of age, I was earning good, going on foreign trips and I was like ‘ab toh actor nahi banna’. Since I came from a middle-class family and pursuing acting dreams comes with a lot of struggle, I chose to start as a dancer and then use that money for acting courses. I met some people, who told me that I will earn good money as a background dancer. I felt dancing is also important to become an actor, so let me focus on this and hone my skills as a dancer. In college, I would dance ok-ish and got selected for a solo dance competition in inter-collegiate function. At the age of 17-18, I would just visit the studios to ask around ke kaise kya karna hai. I had no idea about how to approach anyone. While mostly people would opt for science with such marks, I opted for commerce only because of acting. ![]() I was a bright student and my percentage was also good. ![]() Till 10th standard I had the ambition of becoming an actor. When I was 6 or 7, I told my dad that 'I want to become an actor'. I was doing a web show and then things started falling in place. Even during lockdown, I wasn’t sitting idle. My turning point was in 2019, when I got Bahu Begum. And even after that, I wasn’t getting any calls. Then the casting directors would appreciate my performance. Slowly, I got hold of a coordinator’s number and then I started doing auditions. I started thinking that ‘is it only me who thinks that I am good looking? I might not be good looking’ as I was not getting selected. For 6 months I was just sending out my profiles, but nobody responded. There were three things happening simultaneously – I would shoot as a background dancer, I was also doing theatre and was also approaching all the casting directors for auditions. I was a background dancer in my initial days in Bollywood films. ![]()
